On October 18, the signing and unveiling ceremony of the "International Joint Laboratory for Research and Development of the Relationship Between Low Carbon and New Energy" jointly built by Northeast Petroleum University and Kocaeli University in Turkey was held online and offline. Dong Hongli, Vice President of our university, and Sadettin Hülagü, Vice President of Kocaeli University, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. The relevant persons in charge of the International Communication and Cooperation Office, the Discipline Construction Office, the School of Civil Architecture Engineering, the Scientific Research Office and the School of Engineering of Kocaeli University attended the meeting. Jia Huanjun, Director of the International Communication and Cooperation Department, presided over the meeting.

Dong Hongli said in her speech that the establishment of the International Joint Laboratory for Research and Development of the Relationship between Low Carbon and New Energy is an important achievement of the long-term cooperation between Northeast Petroleum University and Kocaeli University in Turkey, and also an important manifestation of the upgrading of the cooperation between the two universities. It is hoped that the two sides will take the establishment of a joint laboratory as an opportunity to accelerate the promotion of comprehensive inter-school cooperation and achieve in-depth development in scientific research, joint student training and other aspects. At the same time, they will give full play to the role of the laboratory as a platform to serve the collaborative development of new energy field.

In his speech, Sadettin Hülagü reviewed the construction process of the Kocaeli University Laboratory and the achievements of cooperation between the two sides in the field of low-carbon new energy, and said that he would take the establishment of a joint laboratory as an opportunity to deepen scientific research cooperation with Northeast Petroleum University and strive to build the joint laboratory into a globally leading international platform in the industry.

Professor Li Dong, School of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Professor Müslüm Arıcı School of Engineering, Kocaeli University are both directors of the "International Joint Laboratory for the Research and Development of the Relationship between Low Carbon and New Energy" and appointed Professor Müslüm Arıcı as the part-time doctoral supervisor of Chemical Engineering and Technology in our school.

It is reported that the "International Joint Laboratory for the Research and Development of the Relationship between Low carbon and New Energy" is the first international joint laboratory built during the "14th Five-Year Plan" of our university. The signing of the cooperation agreement marks an important step in the international scientific and technological innovation cooperation and the strengthening of joint research on key technologies.

In the next step, the "International Joint Laboratory for the Research and Development of the Relationship between Low Carbon and New Energy" will gather 8 universities from China, Turkey and the United States. Facing the forefront of green and low-carbon energy development, it will carry out in-depth cooperation in the fields of solar thermal utilization, energy storage system, nanotechnology, hydrogen production from biomass, low-energy buildings and greenhouse gas monitoring, and achieve more breakthroughs in key technologies. At the same time, we should jointly train outstanding talents, promote resource integration, and create an open and innovative laboratory ecosystem with the integration of industry and education.
