Key Disciplines

The discipline of Oil and Gas Engineering was established in 1961. It was authorized to grant a master's degree in 1986, was authorized to grant a doctorate in 1993, was authorized to grant a master's degree in engineering in 1998, and was granted a first-level discipline with a doctoral degree in 2000. It has well engineering, oil and gas field development engineering, oil and gas storage and transportation engineering, and other second-level disciplines. At the same time, it has independently set up the second-level discipline of doctoral degree authorization in Oil and Gas Information and Control Engineering. In 2020, it added the second-level discipline in master's and doctoral degrees in offshore oil and gas engineering, and it approved post-doctoral research service stations in 2003. Among them, the discipline of Oil and Gas Development Engineering was approved as a national key secondary discipline in 2001, and the disciplines of Oil and Gas Well Engineering and Oil and Gas Storage and Transportation Engineering were approved as national key secondary disciplines in 2007. In the same year, the discipline of Oil and Gas Engineering was approved as a national key first-level discipline. In 2018, the discipline of Oil and Gas Engineering was selected as the first-class discipline construction sequence in Heilongjiang Province, and it has consistently ranked among the top three in the national university discipline evaluation. There are 138 full-time teachers and 3 dual-employed academicians, including 41 doctoral supervisors, 54 professors, 1 Yangtze River scholar, 7 Longjiang scholars, 1 Humboldt scholar in Germany, and 1 "Leading Goose" team in Heilongjiang Province, with 3 echelons of leading talents in Heilongjiang Province. It has 2 key laboratories for the Ministry of Education, 1 National Energy R&D Center, 1 National Engineering Research Center branch, 1 state key laboratory cultivation base jointly built by the province and ministry, and 4 Heilongjiang Province key laboratories and other discipline platforms.

Focusing on the secondary disciplines of Oil and Gas Field Development Engineering, Oil and Gas Well Engineering, Oil and Gas Storage and Transportation Engineering, and Offshore Oil and Gas Engineering, this discipline has already formed advantages and characteristics of principles and technologies for improving oil and gas recovery, oil and gas seepage mechanisms and reservoir description technologies, special well drilling and oil and gas formation reconstruction technology, storage and transportation system optimization, energy-saving and consumption reduction technology, and the theory and technology of efficient offshore oil and gas exploitation, mainly focusing on significantly improving oil recovery, continuously enriching the micro-seepage theory of chemical flooding, and overcoming chemical flooding key technologies and broadening the scope of chemical flooding applications, all of which have kept chemical flooding and its supporting technologies at the leading international level. The technical achievements have successively won 1 special prize, 1 first prize, and 5 second prizes in the National Science and Technology Awards. This discipline has entered and maintained the top 1% of ESI. This discipline promotes the integrated construction of disciplines. Petroleum Engineering and Oil and Gas Storage and Transportation have passed the engineering education professional certification and are rated as provincial first-class majors. By constructing a classification and hierarchical graduate training model, we have determined the training objectives for an academic degree emphasizing scientific research ability, a professional degree emphasizing technological research and engineering design ability, and doctoral training objectives centering on good scientific spirit, humanistic quality, and the ability to do independent scientific research.

This discipline has long focused on domestic and foreign communication. It has established long-term cooperative relations with 10 universities, including Missouri University of Science and Technology, Clausthal University of Technology, and 8 research institutions, including the Lawrence National Laboratory of the United States, the Mongolian Petroleum Bureau, and foreign companies. It carries out scientific research cooperation, academic exchanges, and joint training of postgraduates with these universities and companies. A group of entrepreneurs, political elites, model workers, technical experts, and foreign scholars have been trained, and this discipline's international and domestic influence has been expanding.
