School of Physical and Electrical Engineering

The School of Physics and Electronic Engineering was formerly known as the Physics Teaching and Research Section of the Foundation Course Department when Northeast Petroleum University was founded in 1960. On the foundation of the original section, it was established as the Department of Electronic Engineering in 1994 and the School of Electronic Science in 2004. In 2020, it was renamed the School of Physics and Electronic Engineering. The school has six undergraduate majors, including Applied Physics, Electronic Information Engineering, Electronic Science and Technology, Photoelectric Information Science and Engineering, Measurement and Control Technology and Instruments, and New Energy Materials and Devices. The major of Electronic Information Engineering is the major of engineering education certification (other members of the Washington Accord can recognize the degree), the key major of Heilongjiang Province, and the major of the National Outstanding Engineer Education and Training Program. The school possesses a doctorate degree in the secondary discipline of Safety and Environmental Engineering, a master's degree in the primary discipline of Instrument Science and Technology, and a professional master's degree in the field of Electronic Information Engineering (Instrument and Meter Engineering and Optical Engineering). It has the Heilongjiang Province Oil and Gas Testing and Metering Technology and Instrument Engineering Technology Research Center, the National Popular Science Education Base-Physics Exploration Demonstration Hall, and the Heilongjiang Province Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center-Physics Experiment Center.

There are 79 faculty members, including 12 professors, 37 associate professors, 3 doctoral supervisors, 29 master's supervisors, 1 member of the Steering Committee of the University Physics Course of the Ministry of Education, 1 teaching master of Heilongjiang Province, and 2 teaching masters of the university. In recent years, the school's student body has gradually grown to include over 1,200 undergraduate students and 100 graduate students.The school consistently takes the student-centered education concept as a guideline. An electronic innovation design development base, an optoelectronic innovation design base, and more than 10 off-campus practice bases are established to cultivate students' practical and innovative abilities. The students were organized to participate in various contests, e.g., the "National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest," the "Provincial Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest," the "International Contest of Innovation (iCAN)," the "NXP Cup National Undergraduate Intelligent Vehicle Contest" and the "National Undergraduate Photoelectric Design Contest." The students have won six national first prizes, 20 second prizes, 12 third prizes, and nearly 100 provincial awards among the multitudinous contests and achieved other outstanding results.

The school has good teaching, research, and experimental environments, with a laboratory area of more than 4,000 square meters and a total equipment value of 20 million yuan. The school is guided by the national energy strategy and encourages original basic research, vigorously develops cross-integration with advantageous disciplines such as petroleum geology, and promotes application research-oriented to the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the petroleum industry, which has acquired plenteous and influential research results at home and abroad. In recent years, the school has undertaken and completed more than 200 scientific research projects, including general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, sub-projects of National Science and Technology Major Special Projects, China Postdoctoral Fund, Natural Science Foundation of Heilongjiang Province, and horizontal projects of major oil fields, with an accumulative fund of 50 million yuan. More than 300 academic papers have been published, including about 100 SCI papers and more than 30 national invention patents. The school's scientific research and teaching achievements have won more than 10 provincial, departmental, and bureau level awards.
