In order to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech when he visited Hainan and strive to be the leader in building a maritime power, on July 8, the first meeting of the First Council and Technical Committee of the National Engineering Research Center for Marine Oil and Gas Exploration (hereinafter referred to as the Engineering Center) was held in Beijing. Xia Qinglong, President of CNOOC, Xie Yuhong, Chief Scientist of CNOOC and Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Mi Lijun, Secretary of Party Committee, Chairman and General manager of CNOOC Research Institute, 25 academicians from Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, and more than 150 representatives from 22 branch centers attended the meeting. The meeting will be conducted in a combination of online and offline. Our school will attend the meeting online and make a work development report.

Fu Xiaofei, Secretary of the University Party Committee, was appointed as the vice chairman of the first board of directors of the Engineering Center. As a co-contributor, our university established the "Offshore Oil and Gas Exploration Seismic Data Processing and Analysis Sub-Center", and Shi Ying, director of the Scientific Research Department, was appointed as the director of the Sub-center. At the meeting, Shi Ying made a report on the development of the sub-center from three aspects: the construction situation of the sub-center, the characteristic technology and industrial advantages, the cooperation direction and the co-construction plan.

It is reported that this meeting is the first meeting of the Engineering Center after it has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission and officially incorporated into the new sequence of the National Science and Technology Innovation Base. It marks that the development of the engineering center has embarked on a new journey and is a milestone for the future development of the engineering center. Our school will give full play to its own characteristics and advantages, and continue to strengthen cooperation with the Engineering Center in promoting the characteristic processing technology of seismic data for marine oil and gas exploration, integrating the interpretation of marine seismic exploration and processing, jointly applying for national projects and rewards, and training high-level talents, so as to contribute to the construction of marine powers.
